Ancient texts describe human interactions with gods, giants, monsters, and spirits. Claims of angelic and demonic encounters–awake, asleep, and tripping– pervade the internet today.
Let’s suppose not all entities described are imaginary, but possess sentience, intelligence, and agency. If so, can we systematically describe and seek typological similarities across time and space?
We know what a cat is, whether we’ve seen it depicted in Egyptian hieroglyphs, read about it in a 12th century journal, or petted it on our lap. Let’s test for the same in the unseen.
